Minuet Firmware for Models 5512 and 5518

File Name: minuet_v4r5r3-j627.bin

Version History:

Version: 4.5.3-j627
Release Date: 30-Jan-2024
Description: Corrects a range of bugs. Major improvements in support of NMOS (IS-04 and IS-05). All units should be using this Minuet firmware! Refer to document titled Bach Minuet/Liberty Release Notes, included in this release's .zip file, for details on differences between versions. Of specific interest will be the differences between the previous version of firmware used by the Models 5512 and 5518 (v4.2.23) and the current firmware (v4.5.3).

Note: If updating this firmware using an Etherent connection, unit must already be using Minuet Application Firmware v4.0.0 or later. (Contact Studio Technologies technical support for additional information.) Requires use of Model 5512 Main Firmware v2.00 or later or Model 5518 Main Firmware v2.00 or later.

Note: If your unit's Main MCU firmware version is lower than 2.00 you must update the ST 2110 (Minuet) firmware first, prior to updating the Main MCU firmware.

1. From the Studio Technologies' website (studio-tech.com), download the latest ST 2110 firmware onto a personal computer. This download will be in the form of a .zip file that contains a file with an extension .bin. Unzip the files and store them on your personal computer. The file that will be loaded into the Model 5512 or Model 5518 will have the extension .bin.

2. Connect the PC to the network that is also connected to Pri Ethernet port on the Model 5512 or Model 5518. Making a direct connection is also possible.

3. Using the front-panel display on the Model 5512 or Model 5518, observe the ST 2110 IP address. Write down this IP address as you will need it in the next step.

4. Using a standard browser on your personal computer, enter command/go to: http://[IP ADDR]/cgi-bin/upgrade. (The [IP ADDR] is the ST 2110 IP address that you wrote down in the previous step.) Invoking this command will take you to the webpage provided by the Minuet intergrated circuit for upgrading/uploading the Minuet device's firmware.

5. On the webpage, select the file that you peviously stored in step 1. The correct file will have an extension of .bin. For example, it might be minuet_v4r5r3-j627.bin.

6. Click Upload Firmware. The upload process will begin, taking between 15-30 minutes. Yes, it takes a while! Don't do anything else with your personal computer or the Model 5512 or Model 5518 while the upload process is active. Ensure that power provided to both the personal computer and the Model 5512 or Model 5518 is not interrupted. The webpage provided by the Minuet integrated circuit will be blank until the upload is complete. Once completed, a lengthy printout from the Minuet integrated circuit will display on the webpage. One of the last lines of the printout will indicate that the upload was successsful.

7. At this point, the Model 5512 or Model 5518 should automatically restart using the new ST 2110 (Minuet) firmware. If the Main MCU firmware in the Model 5512 or Model 5518 is lower than v2.00, correct operation will not take place. This will be corrected by updating the unit's Main MCU firmware (described in the next step). To ensure that the newly installed ST 2110 firmware is functioning correctly it's a good idea to perform a power cycle at this point.

8. If necessary, update the Model 5512 or Model 5518's Main MCU firmware to the latest version, available on the Studio Technologies' website. The file will also have an extension of .bin. The loading process for the Main MCU firmware is simple. It first requires that the Main MCU firmware file be placed in the root folder of a USB flash drive. The flash drive is plugged into the USB receptacle on the back panel of the Model 5512 or Model 5118, and then the unit's power is cycled. This will reboot the unit and the .bin file from the USB flash drive will automatically load. When the loading process has completed (taking less than 30 seconds) the unit will automatically restart. At that poin, remove the USB flash drive.

9. The Model 5512 or Model 5518 should now be using the lastest ST 2110 (Minuet integrated circuit) and Main MCU firmware. Use the front-panel display's menu system to observe the firmware versions.

If you experience problems with the update process please contact Studio Technologies' technical support for assistance.
